This week has been pretty rough in uni. I got my second essay back which I felt I deserved a better mark. I did show my work to people who aren't in the design/art line, to get a general view of what they thought. They understood what I wrote and here I have the scumbag tut teacher who claims he didn't understand my way of writing. He told me to write more of my own words and he thought they were quotes or references. He marks according to how much you participate in class when we have a seperate participation mark alone. It's really frustrating and really tempting to beat this guy up since he's smaller than me. He maybe a freelance illustrator but doesn't mean that makes him a good teacher. This is the second time I'm sending my work to be remarked. I just feel bad that my course coordinator has to see to these remarkings.
But today we had a consultation session during lecture where we were to air our views about the course so far so that the coordinators could improve their teachings and topics. Everyone was pretty open with it, firing all their problems which was really good and I am so so so very much grateful to Renee. I was planning to write a nice 'love letter' to the guy who spoke to us about my problem with theory class. She spoke up on behalf of me without me knowing and I was so grateful. Thank you so much Renee! Though I will still go ahead with that love letter. I need to ask him about next year's subjects for me. It is true that our studio classes are disorganized and we have so many surprises sprouting out of nowhere.
At the end of this, I did talk to Tania about this. She is definitely the coolest teacher I've met. She thought it was about me being international and not being able to write. I will never use that excuse ever. Yes so what if I'm international? Doesn't mean I can use that status to get my way here. I have been discriminated with my classmates back in secondary school and I would not stand for this. I would rather be treated equally and I'll only use the international status as a joke if I can't find my way around here. This week is all about standing up for what is right and I've never had to email the uni people for advice back and forth this week. It's in these situations which makes me want to challenge them. I want to be treated equally. Do not give me the benefit of a doubt.
On the lighter side, Stewie and Abby has found their way to my balcony. Well, Abby has. She has now learnt to fly into my balcony and try to get my attention. After a rough day today, I came home and prepared lunch when I heard the ruffling of bushes. Abby's in the balcony while Stewie's on a look out. I only gave them a slice of bread. Have to get these guys to be more independent.
Grr...Wish I had these anger energy to go do another swim session. Though I need to rest my right shoulder after yesterday. More jobs to apply for now. *growls*

Erm, before I start, let me make my chicken frank sandwich first...I'm starving.
-----------
Firstly, Lau Ee and Mama, if you're reading this, welcome to my blog. The language may not be perfect but it's still readable. I hope.
I had a funny scene while i was having breakfast. Something in the bushes. I had a feeling it was Stewie and Abby. I checked the window and slowly studying the bushes, I saw a head between the grills of my green fence. It was one of them. It was hilarious cos it looked like a scene out of Jurassic Park where the raptor stuck his head in and looked around. It was the same except this 'raptor' has no teeth. On friday, they actually brought a friend with them but I couldn't feed them. Had to get ready to head to uni.
I just watched a program called 'That was me' where famous and important people talk about the schools they attended and they head back to see their school and teachers. It's always a funny thing when you see your teachers. You'll go like 'that's my teacher!' When you were younger, you would think of them as something else, not really human like us. Like 'that's my teacher! What's she shopping in my supermarket?' Come on, those were the primary school days.
I remember seeing my literature teacher, Miss Lai, in Jurong Point where I celebrated my 19th birthday with the girls. Part of me wanted to go say hello cos she was eating alone, the other part chickened out. Let me explain. Miss Lai is not your ordinary teacher. Yes she is firm and seldom smiles. But she has a voice which could scare the wits out of you but words full of wisdom. She taught us how to be ladies and speak properly. Never to say 'goodbye' but 'good day' instead. I still remember the spicy perfume she wore. With that chickened-out part, I was worried she couldn't remember me. I wasn't the kind of student which stand out and plus she has taught so many students in her life. Secondly, it was the time I had my blond hair grown out. Now, that's not gonna be pretty since she was the one who taught us to be ladies. Not weird hair girls. But it would be interesting to see my Math teacher. She could never remember names but faces. Yes, it's Miss Gan. I was good at Math in high school and one time when I was at the 89 mark range, she actually took me one side and asked what's going on in my life. Why am I slipping? I'm thinking, it's still an A1...what's she worried about. It's hilarious when I think about it.
Another issue that has been happening for 2 weeks. I've been dreaming every night without fail. Most of them I've been able to document notes onto my phone with my mind half awake and eyes closed. It's amazing what you can do when you're half-asleep. Some of them are recurring with the same issues. One which stands out is going back to singapore. Yes I am excited to see familiar faces, no I'm not excited to go back to the judgemental society. I just know it's gonna be weird when I go back there. Yes it is judgemental society here as well but people don't care. They laugh it off or ignore it but back home, strangers start whispering to the next person about another person they don't know. They judge all the time. Some of you might not notice or rather, choose not to own up but it's the fact in our society. Over here, people wear thongs (flip flops) everywhere, even to shopping malls as good as Tangs. People don't care. But back home, you're considered sloppy. It's just plain weird and silly. Singaporeans need to relax sometimes. Some of you might hit back against me with this but I don't care. That's my opinion.
Anyway, on friday we had a competition sponsered by Ikea where we have to design chairs for famous people. Spent the whole day and all of us didn't want to win the competition really. Cos if your design is in the finals, you have to build the chair. At the end of the day, all of us were like 'yay!! We didn't win!' But in the beginning, I was part of the leftovers with Freya. Everyone got put into a group and there'll be those with names which weren't called out. Freya and I were complaining cos our last names end with W. Oh well, it was an interesting day and here are some pictures. Have a great week!
Renee's group - Ian Thorpe chair
Michael's group - Paris Hilton chair (a finalist)
Suzy's and Cindy's group - Dame Edna, together with a tyson chair from another group

Ah! Heat wave and wind storms! Bad combination. I got burnt on the face even though I put on some sun screen. 35 degrees and going up. First time I gave my new shorts for a test run since it's so hot. Luckily I wore shorts to uni, it was too warm to cover up with jeans. More bushfires though.
Lately MSN has been fooling around with me and zeren that is so frustrating. We're like waiting for each other's replies, unaware of whatever messages is being sent across. MSN, stop playing tricks between Brunei and Adelaide.
Anyway, here are some Rove videos for you guys to enjoy. Russell Peters is coming to Adelaide!! Yay! Will see if I can get tickets for his show.

Listening: 'Drift' by Greenwheel
One week down and four to go. Can't believe Ned, Cindy and I were comparing papercuts on our hands in school. For the first time, we have a light weekend with just examples journal and photos to take. Everyone's preparing for friday's event where we have to work with industrial students to build a chair for a famous person by modifying an IKEA chair. I just want to get that day over cos we'll be in uni from morning till late evening.
With abit of free time this weekend, I managed to change my bedsheets and quilt this morning. With that, I cut my foot in the process. A corner of my cupboard sliced the side of my big toe when i opened the door. My foot was in the way so my bad. Didn't think it was that bad till I saw it bleeding. Zeren would probably say it's normal cos it's Claire. I will also take this time to redo my resume so that I can send them in for job applications. So far, I have asked Quince and they told me to drop it in just in case anything opens up.
A reverend or priest spoke out about Adelaide being racist. Somehow it does feel good that someone of the australian community is speaking out about it. There's tons of asians around and I'm glad someone is noticing these things. I'm used to the whole thing. It's something which you can expect from a country like this. Just wing it people. I was hanging out at Suzy's place on wed with Freya and her. I casually mentioned it and they were alittle surprised. Camilla had a big surprised look but I told her it's something that will always come up. She said it's sad that there are people like this. That's what the world is all about.
Anyway, to lighten things up, on thursday which was most of our day off, was drawing for everyday workshop. We were to help out with workshops for people, targeting mainly primary and high school kids since it's their school holidays. All of us thought it'll be boring but it's actually really heaps fun! We had adults joining in and it was like a world of colours came together. It's beautiful and I took some pictures. After that, Ned and I headed down to sushi king to meet up with renee and her sis. We found out Ned is a popper. I'm a cracker haha. I usually do this thumb joint trick where I ask someone to press the bone really hard and it'll pop. He grabbed the hand and didn't freak. I was like 'dude, you're the first person who doesn't have a reaction to it'. Then he starts saying how he can dislocate his shoulder and push it back, his feet, elbows...etc. I've found my match or rather he's better than me haha. But he sort of had a car accident when he was 14 and he nearly cut off his finger once. His stories are jaw-dropping.
I think I have a new nickname among my friends here. 3 people called me the same thing this week. Well, Suzy kinda calls me 'Claire bear' all the time. Then out of the blue, Michael and Freya said the same thing. It was freaky yet funny haha. Well at least it doesn't sound cute. Like claire owns her own bear haha. Wicked!!
I have a feeling I won't do too well this semester. I've lost my creative mojo. I'm so determined to get it back to make it up in the next 4 weeks. I need to do something drastic. I need Adam Sandler's voice in my head. 'You can do it!' And I'll sing along 'ain't no mountain high'. A song which me and the girls sing in poly when we're nervous before a presentation.
Speaking of which, when I was fixing up Suzy's comp, I had my stack of cds with me and I showed them my charmed video. It was weird when they were saying how young i looked. I replied 'it was when I was your age'. Yikes! Alright...pictures from the workshops.

Everyone, I would like to introduce to you Abby and Stewie.
Abby (front), Stewie (behind)I wouldn't even call them pets cos they come and go as they please. It started on thursday when I was coming out of my door to go for my morning swim at 6.45am. They were there! So my heart soften and went in to get some bread for them.
Day 2
Watching tv around 8+ in the morning. I heard quacks outside and I went to my verandah and there they were again! The Quackers. So I fed them again and took pictures of them. I decided to name them Stewie (from family guy) and Abby (some duck from Chicken Little). Abby's the bigger one who's very dominant and I presumed she's female and Stewie always gets bullied by Abby.
Oh! I just went to look at my verandah cos I heard some bird calling. It was Abby I think. She just flew away. Oh dear...she should have come earlier or called me with her quacks haha. Hope she has ducklings and bring them over.
I watched 2 DVDs over the weekend. I haven't watched them in months. So i decided to treat myself with 'The Devil Wears Prada' and 'The Lake house'. The prada movie is good and somehow i think i will be getting something similar if I get a job in a design company. Just don't let the boss be like Miranda Priestly. Lake house was so-so. Nearly fell asleep but I was determined in how they were gonna meet. Thank God it didn't fail the predictability of the show.
Ok, it's pretty warm outside but it's freezing inside. This whole brick theory is mad! Betty, an old lady from a church who travels from door to door. Usually i would say no but she's an old lady...how can you turn a lady like that away? She came to visit me to give more brochures on the word. And it was so hot outside! And I was wearing a jumper inside with my heater on. Bleah...
Anyway, uni starts next tuesday. I wish labour day was on a wednesday, not a monday. Plus the whole chair studies where we have to study Ikea chairs. AFL season just ended last night. Disappointed that the Adelaide Crows didn't make it to the finals but West Coast Eagles won. Good on them! Footy is heaps more exciting than soccer. All that roughness and i won't say violence but it's cool. Speaking of footy, footy players have posed nude for a calender to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. The AFL wasn't too happy about it and they were talking about it on tv. Somehow that question of would you pose nude for money or charity does come up. Somehow it's hard to do it for money but I would do it for breast cancer research. I don't know...Zeren don't fret! I would feel more comfortable doing it to raise money for something good. So let me pose a question to you guys...
"Would you pose nude for money or for Breast Cancer charity (maybe other charities that you prefer?"
They stare at the glass door cos they saw me come out from there the day before
Stewie came in and he got caught cos he mistook the glass for reality. Poor silly duck.
One of my pictures i took while studying chairs at the new found park.
Sushi Rolls from Sushi King. Everyone knows that this place sells the fattest, biggest, cheapest and good rolls here. I bought 4 rolls (pretty heavy i might add) for $8.20. Good deal eh?
My grilled turkey sandwich with haloumi cheese. I love the cheese. *floats away*
